Navy Commander Under Investigation for Anti-LGBT "Comedy" Videos
Captain Owen Honors? command of a ship awaiting deployment from Norfolk, Virginia is under investigation after several videos surfaced that depicted him using anti-LGBT slurs, mimicking sex acts, and creating suggestive shower scenes. Honors made and showed the videos to his crew when he was chief executive officer ? second in command ? of the USS Enterprise during a weekly movie night a few years ago. Although some who served under Honors are supporting him on social networking websites, Ward Carroll, an aviator who flew with him, said he was ?disappointed? by his actions. Michael Corgan, a career Navy officer who now teaches at Boston University, explained that ?Standards shift, of course, and trimming your sails is something you have to do if you?re going to command people in the Navy. This guy showed poor judgment.?Navy sources told NBC News that an announcement temporarily relieving Honors of his command while investigations continue is expected to come as soon as Tuesday afternoon. The videos were made in 2006 and 2007, but it is unclear why they are surfacing now.Related Media Coverage:Associated Press ?
