GaySurfers.net San Diego: A whale, a billionaire and that perfect wave

One local gay surfer and filmmaker talks about his involvement with the whale that recently washed ashore at Point Loma and his international search for the best waves

Editor's Note: This story was originally published as "Robbins, a Whale and that Perfect Wave," on Nov. 26, 2011 on the Gaysurfers.net website, but we felt it would be of great interest to our readers due to its local ties, the timeliness and significance of the whale that recently washed up on our shores, and the fact that both David Wakefield and Robbins Thompson live here in San Diego. Enjoy.
Surfers and whales are intrinsically linked ? not just by the fact that sharks take a bite of us both every now and again.
