This past week New Mexico's three most populous counties - Bernalillo (home of Albuquerque), Dona Ana (Las Cruces), and Santa Fe - began issuing same-sex marriage licenses, effectively legalizing this act for just over a million of the state's 2.1 million residents. It's another big victory for gays and lesbians seeking the legal right to marry, as New Mexico joins 13 other states with full same-sex marriage laws.
