Rhode Island House Committee to Vote on Marriage Equality Legislation
Openly gay House Speaker Gordon D. Fox is pushing for the House Judiciary Committee to vote on a bill that would legalize marriage equality in Rhode Island. Fox said a vote could come as soon as March 10, the same day that the Senate will hold a hearing on similar legislation. Before the state legislature went on break in late February, the House Judiciary Committee heard eight and a half hours of testimony on the bill. Fox said he is speaking with House members about the bill and that there is ?strong support? for it in the House.
