Transgender Singer Chosen to Represent Israel in Eurovision
Israel has chosen transgender singer Dana International to represent the country in Eurovision, an annual competition that brings together various European countries that submit a singer and a song, vote on each other?s performances, and declare a winner. Dana was chosen last night after winning Kdam 2011, Israel?s national selection contest. She previously competed for Israel 13 years ago and won first place with the song ?Diva.? This year?s Eurovision final will take place in Dusseldorf in May, and she will sing a Hebrew-English song called ?Ding Dong.? The competition has gone on every year since 1956 and is one of the most popular televised events in the world.Related Media Coverage:Associated Press ?
