Sally Ride was a hero when I was growing up. She was the first American woman to go into space and she inspired generations of women to pursue careers in science and other "non-traditional" fields. After she retired from NASA she spent her career trying to get children--especially girls and minorities--interested in science. Sally Ride was a lesbian, but that fact was only made public after she died in 2012. As part of Women's History Month, we remember the life and achievements of Sally Ride.
