HOUSTON, Texas -- The Houston City Council voted 11-6 tonight to approve an ordinance that expands the ban against discrimination to include protections for the LGBT community.
The Houston Equal Rights Ordinance (dubbed HERO) proved to be a lightning rod for anti-gay haters in the Bible Belt, forcing the council two weeks ago to delay its vote until today.
