Openly Gay NJ Mayor Tim Eustace Runs for State Legislature
Mayor Tim Eustace of Maywood, N.J., will be running for an open State Assembly seat in the 38th Legislative District. If he wins, Eustace will become the first openly gay person ever elected to the position. He gave a speech on April 7 in which he spoke highly of Assemblywoman Valerie Huttle, Senator Loretta Weinberg, and Senator Bob Gordon, who have already been representing constituents on the state level. ?(They) have done a phenomenal job for us?I think that it?s incumbent upon us to think about what we need to do and make the next step,? he said. His speech was in preparation for the Democratic Convention vote, which subsequently took place on April 10. The district leans slightly Democratic, but the party lost control of county government this past November.Related Media Coverage:NorthJersey.com ?
