Fred Karger - who, the San Francisco Chronicle points out [1], is the only Californian to be a Republican presidential candidate - has apparently been refused the chance to participate inand address the state GOP convention in Los Angeles in September.
"I have been waiting for my invitation, and it never came," Karger told The Chronicle. "And I called up a couple of weeks ago and explained my position."
That's when a party official, Karger said, left a "terse" message: "The schedule is completely filled."
Karger is openly gay.
Michele Bachman and Ron Paul are both confirmed; former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, a part-time California resident, is not planning to attend.
Karger recently pulled 2 percent in a Harris Interactive poll - outpolling Rick Santorum.
