Wyoming Senate Passes Initial Vote to Put Marriage Equality on 2012 Ballot
The Wyoming Senate passed an initial vote in Senate on Tuesday to advance a bill that would put marriage equality to a vote in the 2012 statewide referendum. Senators voted 21-9 in favor of Joint Resolution 5, which is a proposed constitutional amendment that limits the definition of marriage to two people of the opposite sex. The vote on Tuesday included one more vote than the two-thirds required majority. The resolution must now pass two more votes before it clears the Senate and goes to the House?and if accepted there, it will be presented on a ballot in 2012.Related Media Coverage:Casper Star-Tribune ?
