VIDEO: What President Obama told MTV about marriage equality, LGBT rights

WASHINGTON ? During an interview with MTV conducted Friday at the White House, President Barack Obama confirmed his support for marriage equality and LGBT equality.
Obama said it should be up to individual states to determine whether to approve marriage-equality laws and said he expected the courts to weigh in on the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which he believes is unconstitutional.
The President noted that he originally supported civil unions, but that his opinion evolved as he spoke to same-sex couples who persuaded him that civil unions were not equal to marriage.
