Gay-Friendly Joie de Vivre Hotels Enters Honolulu Market

The hip and stylish California-based hotel company Joie de Vivre, which began moving into other geographical markets in recent years with the opening of the Saguaro in Scottsdale, AZ, and the Hotel Lincoln in Chicago, IL, has now made a big splash on the Honolulu hotels scene with the opening earlier this year of the Coconut Waikiki Hotel (which had previously been a Best Western) and the Shoreline Hotel Waikiki (formerly known as the Seaside Hotel Waikiki). This is good news for fans of design-driven boutique hotels who are seeking more moderately priced alternatives to some of the spendy (and often quite huge) resort towers in Waikiki.
