Kelly Cassidy Becomes Third Openly Gay Member of the Illinois House of Representatives
On Monday, Kelly Cassidy was appointed to fill a vacancy in the Illinois House of Representatives. The appointment makes Cassidy - a lesbian and mother of three - the body's third openly gay member. She joins Greg Harris and Deb Mell. Cassidy was unanimously chosen to represent Illinois' 14th district, filling the seat being vacated by Harry Osterman.
