Love Week: Her Name is Lindsey

Her name is Lindsey.  It was supposed to be "Maggie" after the Rod Stewart song but her dad insisted on Lindsey. She makes me laugh every day.  Seriously...On Monday, we had to do some winter storm preparations after our grammar class we take together at SPSU.  Since we live in Georgia where we almost never see the white stuff, we had to go to the grocery store to lay in supplies in the event that ice comes along and causes power outages and roads that can't be driven on.  About a block before we got to the grocery store, there was a mini-shopping cart abandoned on the side of the road near a tree.  As we sat at the light, Lindsey stared at it and said, "That's right, Little Buddy.  Don't you let anyone tell you where you belong."All of our storm prepping reminded me of a time when we had a nasty ice storm on her birthday. The plan was to have our family over for dinner/party/cake but it started getting ugly early in the day and by 1pm, we lost our power and nobody could travel.I was disappointed but Lindsey, ever the introvert, was thrilled.  We had a generator that we used to keep the blower on our fireplace going but we couldn't really use it for anything else.  When it came time to make her birthday cake, I got Lindsey and her EasyBake oven and we baked (by light bulb) the tiniest birthday cake ever known.  We still laugh about that special birthday memory.Today, we are holed up at home with our two dogs, $200 worth of groceries and a DVR full of shows that we need to catch up on.  There is an ice storm of epic proportions outside and I can't think of anything other than how grateful I am to have this time with my daughter - a joy and a blessing to me.
