Anti-Gay Amendment Dies in Wyoming Legislature

The Wyoming State Legislature adjourned on Friday without taking action on a proposed constitutional amendment that would prevent the state from recognizing the marriages of gay and lesbian couples performed elsewhere. According to Wyoming law, marriage can only exist between a man and a woman. However, the law also says that valid marriages performed in other states will be recognized. The issue is currently being addressed in the state Supreme Court, where justices are reviewing the decision of a district court judge who ruled he did not have the authority to preside over the divorce case of two women who were married in Canada. Related Media Coverage:The Associated Press - February 25, 2011"Same-Sex Marriage Amendment Dies in Wyo.
